China successfully sent a new satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite launch center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Saturday.
The satellite called Zhongixing -1D was launched at 0:40 a.m. Beijing Time by a long march-3B carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully.
This satellite was developed by the China Academy of space technology and will be able to provide users with high-quality voice, data, radio, and tv transmission services.
The launch marked the 399th mission for the long march series carrier rockets.
China is launching satellites at a rate never seen before and if this rate continues, we may see China hitting more than 50 satellite launches this year more than any other competitor in the world.
