Ryoyu Kobayashi wins his first career gold medal in men’s individual normal high ski jumping competition at Beijing winter Olympics to give Japan its first gold medal at Beijing winter Olympics.
Ryoyu Kobayashi, a 25-year-old started the first round with the highest score of 145.4 to claim a place on the podium. The score of 129.6 in the final round helped him win first place with a total score of 275.0.
Ryoyu Kobayashi’s good medal in men’s individual normal high ski jumping competition has become the second gold medal for Japan since 1972 when it won its first gold medal in ski jumping competition.
Ryoyu Kobayashi who was the last to enter the final round ended Australia’s Manual Fetter’s hope of getting the gold medal, knocking him to second place with a total of 270.8 points. Manual Fetter received a silver medal.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Dawid Kubachi came in the third position after making a total of 265.9 points.
