As reports of the Russian military reaching the capital city of Ukraine on day 2 of its military operation come in, the mayor of Ukraine said the city was entering a defensive mode as the Zelensky government requested negotiations with Russia to end the war.

On Tuesday the spokesperson for Russia Dmitry said that President Vladimir Putin of Russia offered negotiations with Zelensky government on three reasons; (1) Ukraine should be neutral and (2) Ukraine should promise never to deploy or develop offensive weapons that could target Moscow, (3) Ukraine government should recognize the two breakaway regions of Lugansk and Donetsk and stop shelling them.

But president Zelensky of Ukraine was then not interested until now after the Russian military launched one of the largest air raids on Ukraine from the sea, air, and land destroying Ukraine’s air defense systems and military infrastructure.

As reports of more and more Ukraine troops surrendering without putting up a fight come in, Zelensky’s government may find itself without many soldiers fighting against a much more formidable military of Russia and the only option would be to surrender to avoid being captured.

According to the Russian ministry of defense, at least 150 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered and they were being prepared to go home and meet their families. It’s very much understandable if Ukrainian soldiers surrender because, without any air cover or air defense systems, the expectation of Ukraine winning a war is low which means morale in soldiers also drops significantly.

Today the Russian foreign minister Lavrov said that Russia was ready to send a delegation to Minsk for talks with the government of Ukraine only if all Ukraine soldiers lay down their weapons but other than that, the fight will continue.

From the beginning, this war was very much avoidable but I think the west which backed president Zelensky of Ukraine and his government never wanted to avoid it as they emboldened him to stand up to Russia knowing that Ukraine can’t win a conventional war against Russia.

As a result, Zelensky has led Ukraine to destruction and has caused a war that is threatening the existence of all of Europe.
