While appearing on TV, President Vladimir Putin of Russia announced that the Russian military will carry on special operations in Donbas in order to protect the people of Ukraine and Russians who had been subjected to genocide in Ukraine.

This has been called the largest military operation carried out by Russia in recent history which involved sea, air, and ground attacks using precision guided weapons that destroyed Ukraine’s air defense systems and other military infrastructure.

While addressing the world on TV, President Vladimir Putin of Russia said that and for this, we will strive for demilitarization and denazification of the Ukarine. ” Russia can’t feel safe, develop and exist with constant threat emanating from the territory of modern Ukraine” he added.

Shortly after Putin spoke on TV and Russian military operation began, the separatists in eastern Ukraine started the offensive under the cover of the Russian airforce and captured two towns.

Reports indicate that president Vladimir Putin of Russia had tried to convince president Zelensky of Ukraine to promise not to join NATO, recognize Crimea as Russian territory and recognize the two breakaway regions of Lugansk and Donetsk as independent states and start peace negations but Zelensky refused after calling the UK which made Putin declare military operation against his country.

Ukrainian president Zelensky declared martial law and has asked all Ukrainians with any military experience to go to the internal affairs ministry to register and get weapons to defend the country.

Thousands of people were seen fleeing westwards of Ukraine in their cars shortly after Russia’s military operation began and those who remained were seen trying to withdraw money from ATM machines while others were looking for cover underground the building.

President Zelensky of Ukraine asked the world to stand behind him and announced that Russian airstrikes had killed 40 soldiers and 8 civilians in the first attack at the airports.

US, EU, and the UK are preparing tough sanctions on Russia as they continue to be divided over whether to cut Russia from the SWIFT banking system which uses the US dollars to conduct international trade.

Oil prices have skyrocketed to over 100 dollars a barrel and are expected to continue rising as the US, Japan, and other allies start releasing oil from their strategic reserves.

The UN security council held a quick meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine when the UN secretary general asked Putin to return the Russian army to Russia and end the military operation.

Ukrainians ambassador asked Russia to be removed from the UN security council’s presidency as he called his Russian counterpart a criminal and devil who is going to hell for attacking Ukraine.

The whole world is watching to see how the situation unfolds and to what extent is Putin going after Ukraine since he promised not to occupy any Ukraine territory after the operation.

Although the Russian military operation against Ukraine shocked many people around the, it was inevitable as president Putin had warned that he will not go into diplomatic negotiations forever as he accused US-led Western countries of wanting to stall the talks.

So after recognition of the two break-away regions of Lugansk and Donetsk as independent states, it become clear what was coming next since the Russia-backed separatists control a third of the two break-away regions declared independent by Putin.
