Germany which is hunted by its dark past has been resisting supplying weapons that it considers lethal to Ukraine since the start of the Ukraine crisis but after Russia’s military started advancing on the capital, Germany decided to put its dark memories aside and aid Ukraine.
From the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, US and UK have been urging Germany to allow countries with German weapons to supply them to Ukraine but Germany refused to cite its past history.
Germany has been hunted by the past dark history of creating instability across Europe having caused two world wars that killed millions of people across the world.
After paying the price for much of its 77 years after world II, Germany decided to avoid fueling wars and tensions and it has avoided pretty much of wars fought by the US and its allies like the UK, Canada, and Australia.
After mounting pressure from US and UK by accusing German politicians of having a connection with the Russian government, Germany finally gave in and approved sanctions on Russia plus allowing the Netherlands to supply RPGs to Ukraine.
Another reason why Germany refused to supply weapons to Ukraine was due to fear that the war might enlarge to include all of Europe and I think that possibility remains.
