Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to visit UAE next month

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to visit UAE on January the 6th to attend the Dubai Expo and witness the signing of the India-UAE free trade agreement.

Modi is also expected to visit Indian Pavillion which is a massive four-floor showcasing India’s culture, Yoga, Ayurveda, and space program at the Dubai Expo.

According to the Indian trade minister, the free trade agreement which is the first free trade agreement India has entered is an “outstanding achievement for India” and will open a lot of doors for many sectors in the Indian economy.

Talks for free trade agreements were launched in September and the first week of December saw the third round of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement “CEPA” in Delhi.

UAE is the second-largest importer of Indian products after the U.S with an annual turnover of 30 billion dollars according to data released in the 2018-2019 period.

India was UAE’s second-largest trading partner in 2018 with annual overall trade of 36 billion dollars in non-oil trade.

UAE committed up to 100 billion dollars for investment and infrastructure creation in India which has made UAE a very important investment partner for India.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi visited UAE in 2015,2018 and 2019 and received the highest civilian award called ” the order of Zayed”.

UAE hosts one of the largest populations of Indians outside of India with numbers reaching 3.3 million Indians who make about 30% of the population in the country.

Indian prime minister’s visit to UAE will be the first foreign visit in 2022 with other visits to countries like Germany, Denmark, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and others to follow before the end of 2022.
