Afghanistan government started distributing the China-aided humanitarian supplies on Friday to the country’s 34 provinces.
Acting Minister for Refugees and Repatriation Mawlawi Khalil-ur- Rahman Haqqani said at a ceremony held for the distribution that his country had received several batches of humanitarian supplies donated by China and that his ministry was sending the material aid to needy people in the country’s 34 provinces.
” We are thankful to China for the assistance”, he said. ” China is our good neighbor and assistance for us is very important.
China promised to help Afghanistan by delivering more aid and covid-19 vaccines to the country.
Afghanistan is facing the worst drought in decades which has caused the worst humanitarian situation in the country.
U.S sanctions and cut of aid from U.S-led west left Afghanistan in the worst economic situation and this has caused hanger to millions of Afghanistan.
The U.S is under a lot of pressure to remove sanctions on the Afghanistan Taliban so that international aid organizations can bring in much-needed aid.
So far few countries have come out to offer help including Qatar, China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey but the assistance is not enough and people in Afghanistan continue to suffer.
