For eight consecutive years, China has remained the biggest consumer market for industrial robots, with robot density hitting 246 units/1000 people which is about 2 times the global average.
The annual revenue of China’s robot industry topped 100 billion yuan(15.7) billion dollars for the first time in 2020.
There were about 12 million robotic units worldwide in 2020, with the robotic industry providing 150,000 jobs worldwide in the engineering and assembly industries.
The number of robotic units sold in 2020 rose to 465,000 worldwide and between 2020 and 2022, we expect an increase of 12% in shipments of robots worldwide.
According to research carried out, about 88% of businesses worldwide plan to adopt robotic automation into their infrastructure with the aim of increasing efficiency, improved safety of personal, better product quality, and overall revenue.
In 2020 alone, North American businesses ordered 31,044 robotics.
In 2021, China has 310,000 industrial robotic installations alone which is by far the highest in the world with Japan coming in second with 61,000, South Korea and the U.S having the same number of robotics installations at 46,000 coming in third place.
The market for robotics is increasing. In North America alone, 31,044 robotics were ordered bringing in an income of 1.5 billion dollars.
In Q4 alone, there were 9,972 units sales in the same region worth almost 480 million dollars. All this happened while the pandemic was going on, showing a growing and unstoppable interest in the products.
In 2021, life science and pharmaceutical robotics orders had a 69% growth as they tried to revolutionize their normal operations to cope with social distancing as infections were spreading fast once a need to give quicker test results.
According to robotics industry growth stats, the life science and pharmaceutical industry sector showed a growth of almost 70% year-on-year compared to the previous year by Q1 of 2021.
Other sectors which showed increased adaptability include; food and consumer goods at 56%, plastics and rubber at 51%, and automotive at 39%.
In China, key technologies such as 5G and artificial intelligence have been widely used in new-generation robots.
China also held the world robot conference 2021 which displayed a wide range of application fields.. from space to deep-sea research, from factories and workshops to fields, and from major projects to people’s daily life.
According to the National Bureau of stats, the output of Chinese industrial robots increased from 72,000 units in 2016 to 212,000 units in 2020. Service and special robot manufacturers in China earned 52.9 billion yuan(8.21) billion dollars in revenue last year, a year-on-year increase of 41%.
At the world robot conference, more than 110 enterprises and scientific research institutions brought over 500 products that represented new technologies in the upstream and downstream segments of the robot industrial chain.
