For president Zelensky, a man who promised to defend Ukarine, things aren’t going well for him but he remains strong and hopeful of better results.
In statement that was released after president Vladimir Putin of Russia recognised Lugansk and Donetsk as independent states, Zelensky said that” Ukraine is behind him within its own International recognized borders. And it will remain so. Despite any statement and actions from Russia federation”.
Zelensky says that Keiv was also considering breaking off diplomatic relationship with Russia and be warned that Russia’s recognition of his country’s two break away regions was precursor for further military assault.
“We believe that with this decision, Russia is creating legal basis for further military aggression against Ukraine, thus violating all possible International obligations”, Zelensky said.
Zelensky says that he received a request from his foreign minister to “examine the question of breaking off diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Russian federation”, something he was going to do right away.
Ukraine is getting support from many countries around the world especially from US, UK, Canada, EU and Turkey. According to Turkish TV, president Erdogan of Turkey has condemned the move of Putin recognizing the two break away regions of Lugansk and Donetsk as independent states as “unacceptable” and has called on all parties to respect International law.
Meanwhile Japan has promised to follow US, UK and EU in imposing sanctions against Russia after the recognition of the two break away regions of Lugansk and Donetsk as independent states by president Vladimir Putin of Russia.
For Turkey and Japan, there is no choice but to condemn what Putin did since Turkey is also fighting the Kurds who want to break away from Turkey and form their own country. Japan is more worried that the some situation in Ukraine may happen in Taiwan and that China may decide to take Taiwan back based on Russian calculation which I don’t think could happen now.
