They say war is an ugly business, its true unless you are a business man. You can sale more weapons to more people and Western arms manufacturing companies know that the best.
Western countries led by the US have waged or participated in wars all over the world from Africa, Asia and Latin America in Somalia, Niger, Mali, Libya, Angela, CAR, Syria, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Nicaragua, Colombia, Panama and more countries since world II and now a new theater of war has emerged in Ukraine.
After president Vladimir Putin of Russia announced military operation in Ukraine, more than a dozen countries from the west have promised military aid to Ukraine. US has promised 350 million dollars in arms sales, EU has promised 502 million dollars, Australia 50 million, Canada 33 million, UK 80 million and other countries like France, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Spain, Romania, Czech republic and Croatia have promised military hardware from anti-tank missiles to aircrafts and other small portable air defense systems.
Instead of asking Ukraine to come to negotiating table with Russia, western countries are adding fuel into fire. Western countries led by US has been sending weapons to Ukraine since 2014 but now they are upping the game as Finland said it was sending 1500 rocket launchers and 2500 assault rifles to Ukraine, Belgium is sending 3000 assault rifles and 200 anti-tank weapons, The Netherlands is sending 400 rockets and 200 stringer missiles, Germany 1000 anti-tank weapons and 500 stringer surface to air missiles, Sweden 5000 anti-tank weapons, Denmark 2700 anti-tank weapons, Norway is sending helmets and body armour and 2000 anti-tank weapons.
There are more countries which have promised to send military aid to Ukraine but just from the above given examples, you can see, that’s a lot of fire power. What’s interesting is that they think if Russia succeeds in taking over Keiv, then the weapons can help fight gorrilla war with Russia.
Their calculation is this, of course they don’t expect Ukraine to win but through their International media like daily mail, BBC, CNN, ABC and more aided by social media controlled by US like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more, they have managed to install a fighting spirit into the people of Ukraine which means insurgencies are likely to open up every where in Ukraine who will funded by the west and larg part of that funding will be weapons like anti-tank weapons, armour, guns, tanks like we have seen happen in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen with high chances of seeing this repeat in Ukraine.
If you look at top 10 arms company manufacturers in the world, seven are from the western countries with 6 from US and one from UK. You can get a better picture of what’s happening by looking at their share values since a war began in Ukraine, Lockheed Martin was trading at 330 dollars on November 1st but the share increased to 440 dollars by March 1st which is 31% increase , General Dynamics was trading at 201 dollars on November 1st but the share increased to 234 by March 1st which is 16% increase, Northrop Grumman was trading at 354 dollars on November 1st but the share increased to 442 dollars by March 1st which is 25% increase and a British company called BAE systems was trading at 553 GBX on November 1st but the share increased to 733% by March 1st which is 32% increase according to wion news agency from India.
This trend tells you that war is a good business and company CEOs know this like in January, one CEO in the US was quoted as saying to investors that due to Increased tensions in eastern Europe, the increased tensions in South China Sea, all of those put pressure on same of defence spending over there and we fully expect that we are going to see some benefit from it. This statement of this CEO shows that those arms companies from the west are happy to see tensions rise as they benefit more the longer the tensions last, therefore countries will be forced to buy weapons from them like we have seen in Asia where countries from Japan, The Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam are all ordering arms from US due to tensions in South China Sea.
The same thing is happening in Europe because as tensions increased between Russia and Ukraine, European countries started increasing their defense budget starting with Germany which promised more than 100 billion Euros increase in defense budget, Poland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway and more, all increasing their defense budgets. I guess, most of that money will end up buying weapons from US since they are all NATO members.
There’s no doubt that arms companies from the west knew that war will breakout in Europe between Russia and Ukraine and so they have been preparing to produce more weapons. US military industrial complex has a simple rule, “war must go on” so that they continue selling weapons and carrying out innovation which is why just after 6 months from Afghanistan, we are seeing another war in Europe in Ukraine and guess who is supplying arms to government in Europe and Keiv, its the Americans arms companies.
New war means new orders, new buyers, more jobs, more interest rates and more tax. The US arms industry will benefit more from Ukraine war because unlike other wars like Afghanistan or Iraq, US doesn’t have soldiers on the ground in Ukraine but their arms companies are ripping off the profits.
There is a simple reasoning, more Chaos, conflict, wars and tensions, the more arms sales and the more profits . War has become a very big and profitable business which shouldn’t be like that as wars now days are started not because people want them but because companies want and must sale weapons.
